Really good movie, with great actors. It show the Subtle Homophobia (The club, the coach, the sponsor, the father...) and The Blatant Homophobia (The teamates) in the soccer. It's show the damage you get by being "forced" to remain in the closet.

I think it's definitely a commentary on censoring gay relationships in environments that capitalise on heteronormacy. Leon is such a beautiful kid and I'm glad he'd moved on.

Homosexuality in football as an attractive topic through a romantic relationship between two players from the same team. The most interesting of the film, which is narratively predictable and uninteresting, is how it shows this subtle way of censoring without verbalizing it, in an environment that is oppressive, but in a "polite" way. It is one of the few achievements of a film that, on the other hand, does not risk either in form or in substance.

Not enough Leon.
I'm glad Leon moved on. Mario didn't deserve him. Joel's super cute.
Btw, Leon looks so much like Matthew Daddario!

In a perfect world, today's footballers would be free to play with balls off the field as well as on, but we are still living in backward times. This is shown here, and while I'm no expert on the 'beautiful game,' I assume it to be quite accurate considering the number of footballers who reportedly keep their sexual side a secret. A good film, but ultimately a sad one.
