*"Gardening is a belief in the future. A belief that things will happen according to plan."*

Very monotonous and slow, ***Master Gardener*** is no thriller but it's a decent drama. It's arthouse but it's not pretty nor does it have interesting cinematography. For a film about flowers and gardens it barely has any, the sets are colorless and lifeless—I'm led to believe that it's intentional, right? It has to be or it's really pathetic. I fail to see the metaphor behind it if there is one though. It just looks like they're planting flowers in fall, which is dumb. It goes into a bit of a romance but it felt gross and repulsive to me. The best it has are interesting characters and dynamics supported by some great acting from Edgerton, Swindell and Weaver. I liked the score and the poetic dialogue worked at times, in others it was too intense and therefore laughable. The tattoo reveal was clever and whenever Sigourney Weaver shows up on-screen the movie really shines. The ending was anticlimactic, but has a strong beautiful message.

*"Goddamn you, Sweet Pea."*
