I was waiting for this movie for quite sometime and I am happy to say that it did not disappoint. I did not read the book yet thank goodness so that will not be a comparison for now. I was completely embedded in the story. I cried a little it was so good. It was not a perfect 10 like _The Notebook_ but it was very touching. I highly recommend it.

I was totally ready to get into this story and enjoy it. I'm afraid this movie is terrible. The first thing is Emilia Clarke which did a terrible terrible acting job. She always had the same smirk on her face in any situation, sad, happy, annoyed. The director did a terrible job of directing her. I also did not buy for a single second their supposed love story. The third act is not working at all. You don't understand her motivations, her feelings and it just didn't work. Very disappointing movie.

As someone who read the book before I watched the film, I was really disappointed with the movie version. The film moves too quickly, it does not give the relationship time to develop between the characters. They also have changed Will's interests, in the book he is into classical music, in the film he is not (just one of many things.) The music choices on this film are awful as well. They acting is good, but I feel like this film had so much more potential. It's a watchable, enjoyable, film but nothing to rave about. If you haven't read the book I expect that you will love it. For those who have read the book don't watch it!

I didn't expect to be so moved by such a little movie, but with a captivating performance by Emilia Clarke, the witty laugh out loud funny writing, and a heartbreaking but not too clichéd ending, made this film a little overlooked gem.

Sam Claflin acquitted himself nicely, as did the entire supporting cast. Charles Dance and Janet McTeer as Will's parents, were a gelid and steely bonus no matter how secondary their characters were. I liked that they were never positioned in the story as obstacles to anything... Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter's Neville Longbottom) is again, chameleonic in the way he fits himself into characters, and Brendan Coyle (one of my favourites from Downton Abbey) were nicely cast.

However, it is truly Clarke and the screenplay that stand out here. I've never read the book, and probably never will, but I liked the story very much. I also like that it didn't play like a Hallmark movie, and the banter between Clarke and Claflin was well paced and they worked their chemistry very well, right up to the last letter in Paris.

This was a great little film... well worth the watch, just get some Kleenex.

Good story. Complicated feelings played out well. Didn't realize it was Neville Longbottom until like 3/4 through the movie . The ending made sense and within character but I still didn't like it.

Emilia Clarke definitely makes this movie. Her quirkiness is infectious and makes the ending even more poignant. Assisted suicide is a tough subject and one that Canada will be facing more in the future I'm sure. In the end I don't think I could have been as brave as she was but I understand it.

**The Good**:

+ A warm and lovely little romantic movie, with truly lovable leads in _Game of Thrones_-star **Emilia Clarke** and _Hunger Games_-actor **Sam Claflin**.
+ Great chemistry between Clarke and Claflin, even if Clarke does feel somewhat awkward in her overly hipster clothing.
+ Overall, a very faithful adaptation of **Jojo Moye's** novel.
+ Genuinely funny and touching, with a touch of old school romance somewhere.
+ It never forgets its focus: the story of Lou and Will and the doomed relationship.
+ All actors are great and **Matthew Lewis** is surprisingly good even when he is not Neville Longbottom.

**The Bad**:

- The story progression and the central themes of the movie are hardly anything new or revolutionary.
- There is little reason to watch this again, as the emotional impact isn't as strong on subsequent viewings.

**Verdict**:
A faithful adaptation of a best-selling novel in all its warmth and fuzziness, but still just another rom-com for the masses.
