Absolutely horrible. I imagined it would be a good sequel but it's a terrible let down

Entertaining and light for a Sunday afternoon.

Terrible... stopped watching somewhere in the middle I don't even remember... good movies are super hard to find these days

What the people seem to forget is that this is meant to be entertaining. Do not care about logical holes too much or discuss whether sth is „unrealistic“ or not. The answer will be quite certainly YES it is not the realism that makes most of Stathams movies good it’s rather the action or sheer over the top things to happen be it a mega shark from the ice age or a guy who fucks his girl to produce more adrenaline so his heart does not stop (cause he needs to kill like 162 mob guys first etc you know the drill). Rooted in sanity, realism or laws of physics - most of the time….no. But it’s a jelling a ride and that’s why I (sometimes- not all the time) enjoy popcorn cinema like the Meg flicks and maybe you should too sometimes. Give your brain some off-time - let it relax and just sit back and (try to) enjoy the carnage!!! That’s my best advice for you…

A surprisingly fun well-paced very over-the-top film that expands on the first one, though mainly by just going bigger and more over-the-top. If you enjoyed the first one, you'll enjoy, and maybe even prefer, this one.

I had a fun time, despite usually not finding these kinds of movies entertaining.

This is a movie with an identity crisis. But it wasn't boring and better than the first movie.

It is still a good and enjoyable movie as the last part. They have made some good connections with the previous part too.

Just finished watching the Meg 2 film at the cinema and I’ve got to say I quite enjoyed it! I read a lot of the negative reviews online before I seen it and to be quite frank it was making me doubt having hopes that it was going to be a good film. But I generally did! Really reminded me of how much I liked the first! Definitely worth a watch!

*Meh 2: The Stench*

Went in expecting a dumb, silly, fun, entertaining shark movie and that's what I got, but emphasize on the **dumb**. It's exactly the same formula as the first. Same lack of comedy and one-liners which is a shame but I did laugh a few times. Same quality for the effects and the shark action is entertaining. But anytime there's no shark it's absolute dog shit. So convoluted and all over the place. At some point during the first half I asked myself "who wrote this shit?" but then remembered this is based off a book. Note to self: never read that book. I had no idea what was happening in the story or any of the character motives or what the evil company was all about, it just made no sense to me. First half was bad but the second half actually has something very entertaining and fun to offer. Octopus was the real star, wanted a bit more of it. Favorite character was DJ. Helicopter woman was the funniest moment. A strong *Jurassic Park* vibe.

If you liked the first one you'll like the 2nd one. I loved the first one and loved this one as well. I didn't go into this movie expecting some amazing story that would win some pointless Oscar. I went into it so I could see some over the top cheesy action, a man battling sharks, an octopus and other random stuff. I got every bit of that and more. Just grab your popcorn and sit back for the rode.

If you liked the first one you'll like this one as well. Nice visuals, cheesy humor and plain old Statham.

I think it was pretty good for what it was. But the little girl was so annoying! How difficult is it to stay put?

Like when the sign says Live Strippers but you go in and it's just a group of sweaty guys removing paint and wallpaper.

They call this Meg 2, but the sharks are in the film so little that it's a waste of bad CGI.

If you like sharks and other prehistoric/aquatic animals, you’re going to like it!

I could probably just reuse my review of "The Meg" for "Meg 2: The Trench", because most of the criticisms apply to the sequel as well. Again, it takes way too long until the shark action really gets going. Again, the human characters are uninteresting. And again, the focus of the story is far too much on the boring drama surrounding these characters. The effects, on the other hand, are good, as they were in the first film. However, that doesn't do much good if the film lacks any sense of fun. "Meg 2" ends up being good enough to have it edited into a cool trailer. It's telling, though, that almost all of the cool scenes in the trailers are from the film's final act. It can make up a bit for the really lame first 90 minutes. But in the end, it's all too little, too late.

Jason Statham could magically summon additional harpoon after throwing one and make it both dissapear and appear again at some scene. looks like the editor doesn't do their job properly to this details.

Personally, I liked the first movie more. This one is trying to do a lot: not one, but THREE megs, another creature surprise, corporate espionage, swimming at 25,000 feet, secret evil base, dino doggos, uncle with the clicky button going all Jaws 4 with the psychic connection with the shark... (Jiuming made me cringe so much). It's a lot, and not really thought through. Just meh for me.
