Uhm yeah, some people belive this movie can be used to raise social awareness from internet predators (which was part of it's intent according to the director).. I would not do that with this movie. According to comments at IMDB some folks even showed this to their teenage kids?!

While it's true that the last 22 minutes are effective, it's mainly for the reason that this is some sick shit. What builds up to this is horrible dialog from stupid teenagers who don't look their age (Megan is supposed to be 13/14).

It's an OK movie if you're down to watch something in this vain but in the end it's just torture porn based loosley on ideas from "true events".

Both the start and end of this movie are insufferable for totally diferent reasons.

The opening hour is some of the worst acted, found footage set-up I've ever viewed, leading me to almost bail out at multiple points. Only this movies notoriety online kept me going to see what all the fuss was about. I would strongly recommend watching the opening hour at 1.5x speed if available, you'll still get the nuances of the characters, but the scenes will not linger like they do at normal speed.

But ff you can make it through that initial hour, Megan Is Missing features one of the most chilling, dark and terrifying endings in horror I've seen for a while. Is it torture porn? Basically, but it's ruthless approach really made my stomach drop few times, which is all I can ask for from this genre of horror.

This movie is many things - except a good movie.
- it's unrated for a reason
- it's essentially murder porn
- it's disturbing
- it's definitely a cautionary tale of meeting up with an unknown person from the internet

Bottom line - I would suggest you skip this movie - but I know that for some of you one or more of the above-listed items will entice you to take a look - you have been warned.

THIS MOVIE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING FANTASTIC
HONESTLY DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT BUT MY GOD NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A MASTERPIECE.
SEEN MANY, MANY OF THESE SUCH MOVIE'S BUT THIS ONE IS RIGHT UP THERE IN YOUR NUMBER 1s. IT WAS SO BLOODY SURREAL BUT THAT'S KUDOS TO THESE FANTASTIC AMAZING ACTRESSES, AS THE 2 GIRL'S WERE PHENOMENAL IN THERE ROLES. THE HOLE MOVIE FROM THE VERY START TO THE BITTER END WAS DONE SO BLOODY WELL AND WAS REALLY REALLY CLEVER HOW IT BROUGHT EVERYTHING TO THE SHOCKING REALITY. THE DIRECTOR DESERVES AN AWARD FOR THIS.
THIS WAS DEFINITELY SOMETHING SPECIAL AND ABSOLUTELY HEARTBREAKING
THIS MOVIE IS A TRUE MASTERPIECE IN THE WAY IT REMINDS US ALL THAT THE TRUE HORROR MOVIE IS LIFE AND WITH ALL THE EVIL AND CRAZIES AND SICKOS IN IT.

Incompetently made movie that only become interesting after 30 minutes of dreck and even watchable (by horror movie standards) 30 minutes after that. Made to shock it actually does become chilling but you sit through too much to care any more by that time. 3/10

I absolutely regret watching this film. Besides the disturbing scenes, it was one of the most poorly acted and executed films i’ve come across. Some scenes made my skin crawl, i had to fast forward - it’s not for the faint of heart - but honestly, it’s also not worth watching.

Ugh. I'm worse off mentally for watching this movie. Its disturbing, yeah. But unnecessary.

I really regretted watching this

probably one of the most boring films I've ever seen, the acting was PAINFUL and overall it just felt so badly made and trashy. I can't belive the writer of this movie made Megan's actress talk for about 10 minutes straight describing a s*xual assault she experienced as a child...or how we as an audience are forced to watch another young girl be assaulted for a scene that seems to never end. It's absolutely a torture p*rn film, not some PSA about online safety some people seem to believe it is. The director seemed to really enjoy exploiting the real life cases of missing children by overs*xualising these actors and making scenes of torture for entertainment...I don't know what kind of film you all watched but to me I think I saw something that should be removed from the internet forever

IT'S DEFINITELY A STORY THAT NEEDED TELLING AND HIGHLIGHTING IN SUCH A MANNER.
