Smart, funny spoof that is impossible not to like!

good movie!

Just as much fun today as it was the very first time, if not more so. Tommy Lee Jones is brilliantly cast as the stern, no nonsense G-Man straight out of the 1950s, a role he was seemingly born to play, and while new recruit Will Smith was badly typecast at the time, there's a very real, palpable chemistry between the two that transcends what roles they may have played before or after. Further complimenting the scene is a dynamite supporting cast, with Rip Torn amplifying all things stoic and ancient about the government, Vincent D'Onofrio stealing every scene as a not-so-subtle wolf in sheep's clothing and a typically dry, sarcastic performance from Linda Fiorentino.

The jokes are still funny (even though I remembered most of the punchlines), the adventure is a perfect blend of introduction and elaboration, and the pop culture asides still work fifteen years later. Even the special effects aren't aging badly, which is a rare blessing considering the rapid advances in CGI since it was in theaters. Enthusiastically funny, rambunctiously fast-paced and occasionally genuine, I was surprised to see it's still firing on all cylinders.

"Men in Black" taps into my lifelong fascination with aliens. This sci-fi comedy is a delightful journey with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, offering a perfect mix of humor and action. It's a childhood favorite that keeps the charm alive with its stellar blend of comedy and extraterrestrial intrigue. It may showcase some dated CGI and prosthetics by today's standards, they remain acceptable, adding a nostalgic charm to the film without detracting from its overall enjoyment. The practical effects still hold up surprisingly well, adding to the movie's unique appeal. By today's standards, it is very rewatchable with a rating of 8/10.

One of my favorite films growing up and it still the thing I associate most with Will Smith. While it is unfortunate that the sequels do not quite reach the heights of this original, this holds up beyond well and is still as great as ever.

Still a fun watch that holds up

for me the plot was very simple! the bad was disgusting! i feel disappointed with this film...

Men in Black is a fun and action pack sci-fi/comedy that’s out of this world. Based on the comic book, NYPD cop James Edwards is recruited to be part of a top secret agency that monitors and controls alien activity on Earth. Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith, Linda Fiorentino, and Rip Torn, the film has a lot of solid comedic talent. Jones and Smith make for a good comedic team, but Smith goes over the top a bit too much. And unfortunately, the alien creature designs are pretty underwhelming. Yet while it has its problems, Men in Black is still a wildly entertaining film that delivers plenty of laughs.

I did not expect to have such fun watching this movie, but I've enjoyed it a lot and Will Smith fits perfectly into this world.

Holds up pretty well. WIll Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are a great team.

Classic! Loved 1 and 2!

Another movie my wife admitted she had never seen or even knew what it was about. So of course I put it on immediately. I absolutely love everything about this: 90's sci fi, Tommy and Will are a great duo, creature work, humor, and especially the soundtrack. People forget this is a comic book movie (Marvel Comics!), so it should be added to lists of best comic book movies. Oh and Vincent D'Onofrio is incredible as a bad guy as well!
