Mid90s was really beautiful and did well in terms of fitting in different subjects. The film made me laugh, shocked me, disturbed me, made me sad, made me relate, made me feel REAL. Made me feel like I am not alone in terms of dealing with shit, we all go through shit and Mid90s really demonstrated that subject. "A lotta the time we feel our lives are the worst. But I think if you look in anyone else's closet, you wouldn't trade their shit for your shit." It really made me think about and appreciate what I have in my life and who I have in my life. The characters really were memorable in every way and actors in general just had good chemistry which made the movie the most enjoyable. Additionally the cinematography was amazing and couldn't have been any better. It really felt like it was the 1990s.

The ending was pretty bad in my opinion. It's not that I thought the scene was bad, however, more that I just did not expect it to end in that way and it just lead me to wondering what the fuck was the point and plot of the movie? Jonah seemed to lack in understanding what he wanted to prove or present. We get that it is a skateboarding film and that it is a connection and reminiscing film to skater individuals who grew up in the 1990s, but what was the plot? It seem to lead nowhere.

Otherwise, still very enjoyable and definitely would recommend and watch again myself. ==8/10.==

All the best movies are the ones about me.

Because even though I was roughly the same age as the lad in the film during the mid 90s,
I was not the by-product of a single parent household, I was not bullied by an older sibling, I did not experiment with the darkness in the ways this boy did
. I was just a child questioning his sexuality from the comfort of his upper-middle class upbringing.

My point is that I and the boy in this film had absolutely nothing in common except everything. Because watching this film I remembered trying too hard to be liked, struggling to exist beyond my parents' expectations and trying to carve out my own identity from a block of insecurities. So, this film was about me in the same way it's about every adolescent who outgrew his sheltered home life.

Jonah Hill does a remarkable job directing (aided immensely by a solid cast, excellent locations, and a soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross that, like the rest of the film, reeks of the 90s without stinking of it), and his subtle story telling takes what was a good film and makes it a great one.

"Relatable" is a word that I see bandied about as praise of various mediums. Well let me tell you, _Mid90s_ was relatable, and it made me very uncomfortable. I like Slice of Life stuff, and I **love** Coming of Age movies, but I guess _Mid90s_ was not what I needed today. That said, it set out to do a particular thing and it totally did it. And well, you gotta respect that.

_Final rating:★★½ - Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole._
