At times, it feels a bit like a Hallmark/Disney Family movie and can feel a bit "over-acted" (perhaps the latter is a cultural difference), but overall it's an engaging story that the actors do well to have you *feel*. I was a bit disappointed that the Jang Min-Hwan character (the prison warden, played by Jung Jin-Young) wasn't more fully developed, as it appeared that the story there would have been a good replacement for much of the so-so story told from within the walls of the prison. It receives high marks from me due to the powerful emotions that it invokes and its ability to intersperse comedy into a story that would otherwise be difficult to find humor in.

@garrettd I'd say the latter is either the cultural difference, or if you're talking about the endless goodbye scenes, that has to be deliberate, because in the beginning they're stretched out, and a little irritating, but the meaning of them completely changes progressing to the end, and you feel how long and painful they become.
