Modelo Prison. Barcelona, 1977. Manuel, a young accountant, imprisoned and awaiting trial for embezzlement, faces a sentence of 6 to 8 years, a disproportionate punishment for the crime committed. Together with his cellmate Pino, he joins forces with COPEL, a collective fighting for the rights of ordinary prisoners and amnesty. A war for freedom breaks out that will bring the Spanish prison system to its knees. If things are changing outside, they’ll have to do the same inside. A tale of friendship, solidarity and freedom, inspired in true events.

Demands for sweeping amnesty for all prisoners? Does a change in government wipes away your being murderers, rapists, thives? In what backward country does it work like that? Also what was that? i won't eat unless you give me and never seen before bring us or we'll cut ourselves...Like the women say: your body your choice. Your choice but also your responsibility, not anyone else. You don't want to eat? Starve. You want to cut yourself? Bleed. One last thing, who builds a prison in the middle of a residential area??

[ASECAN '22] A more or less classic prison movie that provides the political background in a story about the search for justice and freedom. There are interesting characters, although some actors move along well-known paths, but it is especially remarkable how the relationship between the two protagonists develops. It gives the impression that it wants to be more ambitious than it finally achieves, that it tries to introduce such disparate elements that it falls short in its development. And the search for naturalism sometimes breaks the construction of tension in some scenes.

A great movie with an historic background. I can't tell how accurate it really as I don't know much about this part of history, but it was well acted out and gripping up to the end.
