Moffie feels like a literature class because everything is layered with metaphors and analogies because look yeah, inner war, outer war all that. The kiss between Stassen and Nick was momentary but its the only thing that perhaps gave Nick hope. Of holding on. Of believing there were still good things waiting for him out there. You can see the internalized homophobia in Nick but I feel like Ward 22 broke Stassen and that sweet boy did not deserve that. He didn’t deserve any of it. I feel like this movie did a good job of portraying the Zimbardo theory about no bad apples but bad barrels. These boys are a product of their environment and that needs to change first.

[Atlántida FF] There are two wars in this movie. The inner war of the protagonist who discovers desire, and the outer war in a training ground that is actually a battlefield. A kind of continuation of the director's first film, "Beauty" (2011), although with more hopeful nuances. But also the film talks about war, abuse, classism, toxic and castrating masculinity.

Powerful in parts but in trying to tell two stories, it becomes a little unfocussed at times.
