[HBO Max] It uses most of the resources of animated cinema in a story that is unbalanced between wanting to please all audiences and trying to focus on the child's gaze. Like when it tries to build an empowered female lead, but ends up inevitably fueled by a romantic relationship. It is something like wanting to provide positive messages but that deep down contain a deep traditional look. The animation is well executed without being overly shiny and the soundtrack finds inspiration in Jerry Goldsmith, but the story is too boring and cliché.

If only people with PTSD could just "snap out of it"...
How are we supposed to empathize with Nefer's emotions and aspirations when she doesn't even acknowledge Thut's trauma?

There's really nothing new in the plot of this; the same basic moralistic concepts and plot tropes exist in most animated films whose target demographic is the preteen section of society. Having said that, it's nice to see a non-Disney slant on things, and this is a very well-produced, high-quality, entertaining family film that I and my two daughters (11 and 13) thoroughly enjoyed it. The two protagonists are annoyingly stereotypical (sassy, aloof female and goofy, low-brow male), and it's obvious from the first ten minutes what the eventual outcome will inevitably be. As with all such animated films though, the fun and entertainment lies within the journey itself, rather than the predictable conclusion. I would definitely recommend watching this at least once. Twice is probably as much as you'll ever want to watch it though.
The high point of the film was the theatre scene, which was very cleverly done, and amusing as well.
Animation is correct but the story is a mess. And god damn, the pace of this movie was insane!

They should have take their time to build the story and the emotional moments. You can't enjoy and feel anything.

Like a mummy: antiqued, tired and it just lies there when it wraps up.

A fairly standard kids' cartoon (but with exceptional animation), though the editing was so bad even I noticed and the children that filled the theater stayed as silent as a tomb.
