This is really, REALLY bad! They hired some big Hollywood names and forgot to hire a screenwriter. Honestly, I can't think of anything that is good about this. What a waste of talent and time. I give this a 2 (RRB, see above) out of 10.

A good cast can only do so much with a clumsy and predictable script. At ninety minutes this may have been bearable but it goes on for nearly two hours. Meh.

This movie was quite enjoyable, filled with a great ensemble cast and had the theater laughing several times. Well worth a watch with Mom!

Alright viewing. Nothing worth remembering or revisiting though.

'Mother’s Day' has a good cast list. Jennifer Aniston is always a pleasant watch, as she is here as Sandy. Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts and Jason Sudeikis also feature. I liked all three of them, they and Aniston are certainly the strongest parts of the film.

Garry Marshall staple Héctor Elizondo also appears, he is as likeable as he is in, e.g., 'The Princess Diaries'. Jack Whitehall and Britt Robertson are together in this, I found Whitehall a bit wooden to be honest. Elsewhere, they somehow make Margo Martindale unlikeable - I've only seen her in sweet roles before, but her Florence (and Robert Pine's Earl) is rather detestable. That whole 'arc' is poorly written.

Not as cheesy as predicted, even if it still does feature a fair amount of cheddar. The main cast make this an OK watch, if not necessarily a good one.

A movie where all the main female protagonists are blonds... even their daughters or grandsons.

**The Good**:

+ A star-struck cast.

**The Bad**:

- The aforementioned cast of heavyweight stars in a meaningless rom-com utilizing all of its genre specific clichés and never getting anything of value done.
- All actors are subpar at best and bad at worst. **Jennifer Anniston** is particularly bad.
- Two hours is excessively long a runtime for a movie in which nothing happens.
- The humour is either hopelessly childish or simply tasteless.
- The characters are lifeless and difficult to grip - the film lacks emotional impact.
- Lazily written script; it is forgettable, predictable and takes too many easy ways out of tense moments.
- **Julia Roberts** is criminally underutilized.
- **Garry Marshall** fails to connect the different parts of the movie into a coherent whole; instead, _Mother's Day_ feels like a set of unrelated and irrelevant scenes.

**Verdict**: Even Hollywood’s brightest stars cannot save this hollow movie.

Its unfortunate that this is the finale for Gary Marshall as director but Mother's Day is still watchable despite fairly lazy righting and a couple of lazy performances. I did find some laughs here though and I thought Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis make it watchable. No need to rush out and rent this movie but it could be an enjoyable cable grab.
