Mr. Turner turned out as dull as I expected. Authentic production design and costumes, nice scenery and a good turn by Timothy Spall couldn't make up for the fact the subject matter and screenplay were ridiculously boring.

Apart from 2 scenes that showed why Turner was so brilliant a painter, this film is way too long and way too dull to do the artist justice.

The story of this artist reminds me of a book I read many years ago, which described the lives of classical composers such as Mozart. It seems they were often like rock or film stars of more modern times. They lived life large and invited scandal. Mr. Turner describes a similar character. He lives h More
