An alright sequel.

It's a more watered down story regarding Ming-Na Wen's character, with more focus put on lovey-dovey stuff as opposed to a fight of some kind. Therefore, things are naturally less enjoyable than in the original film. To me, everything's just a little slow and predictable so I can't rate it higher.

Away from Wen, the supporting cast is weaker with the absence of Eddie Murphy as Mushu. Mark Moseley actually comes in with an OK performance, yet it's not a jot on Murphy's. There are some notable newcomers though, with Lucy Liu (Mei) and Sandra Oh (Ting-Ting) appearing.

The music is average, as is the animation. It's simply a weaker production all in all, as you would probably predict. 'Mulan II' is, at least, still better than a number of other Disney animated sequels; e.g. 'Cinderella II: Dreams Come True' or 'Belle’s Magical World', among others.

I wasn't keen on this movie at first. The general mood is completely different from the original. It almost seemed too happy and "wishy-washy". Also, Mushu's voice actor is a completely different person, which is off-putting. But I got used to this quickly and grew to like the movie, although the original film is still leaps and bounds over the sequel. It's a decent film, I'll give it that.

DisneyToon butchers yet another Disney property with Mulan II, an insipid piece of trash that’s excruciatingly formulaic. Lacking any subtlety (as if written for a 5-year old), the story follows Mulan and her former army friends as they escort the Emperor’s three daughters to their arranged marriages...and surprise, surprise the daughters fall in love with the soldiers. The animation isn’t half bad, though it stays pretty simple and limits the scope. And most of the original cast returns, but the absence of Eddie Murphy is felt; not so much in the voice as in the characterization of Mushu, which is all wrong (with him coming off as an uncaring, mean-spirited jerk). Mulan II betrays all the goodwill engendered by the first film, and delivers clichéd, uninspired tripe.

You know what it's not the worst Disney Sequel I have ever seen. It's one of the better ones. True it has a different feel but I liked it. It's a good cute movie rather than an inspiring one. I great short flick for families and the kiddies.

this sequel was a letdown from start to finish, I wanted to say this movie sucks because it lacked Eddie Murphy, but it's more than that, no clear story and no villain, and the songs were awful.

My score: 4/10

A very good sequel to a Disney Classic. As the plot points of the last 10 mins of the first film seeming a bit rushed when Mulan and Li Shang got together, this 2nd film picks up right where the first left off. A good mix of slowing down and showing the life Mulan now has as a hero and the dawn of a new adventure. As Mulan and Li Shang, amongst the three stouges, have to escort the emperor's three daughters to nearby allies to be married off in order to avoid conflict between the allies. But of course along that adventure many twists and turns happen that keeps one on the edge of their seat, as the set up of the story is a bit slow. But unfortunately yet again the ending was a bit rushed and leaving the viewers want to party a bit more for a happy ending. And of course there is great comedy in this one as well as Mushu plays a big role.
