After telling the story of Flint's last journey to young Jim Hawkins, Billy Bones has a heart attack and dies just as Jim and his friends are attacked by pirates. The gang escapes into the town where they hire out a boat and crew to find the hidden treasure, which was revealed by Bones before he died. On their voyage across the seas, they soon find out that not everyone on board can be trusted.

This has to be the weakest Muppet movie for me, by far. I mean, sure it's fun enough to see them perform this classic story, it's still the Muppets of course, but they're just not served best with this material. I will rarely come back to this one.

It's no Muppet Christmas Carol. The songs aren't memorable in anyway, but it is zany and out of control and filled with a ton of muppet team work.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of adventure on the high seas gets adapted into the family film Muppet Treasure Island. Tim Curry helms the film as the swashbuckling pirate Long John Silver, and is joined by Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, and the rest of the Muppet characters. Unfortunately, the Muppets aren’t up to this task and feel out of place here. And, the music isn’t very memorable or entertaining. Muppet Treasure Island doesn’t have that same magic that the other Muppet films do, and is rather lackluster.
