This premise had a lot of potential. I wanted to like the movie, but was really disappointed in the end.
It was unfocused, the worldbuilding felt inconsistent and the different parts didn't seem connected.
A futuristic Berlin skyline, retro interiors, contemporary cars, and buildings didn't fit together in this context.

The acting by the three main protagonists was alright and had many good parts,
but was hampered by a rather bad, uninteresting plot which included some dull dialogs.
It sometimes just felt randomly diced together.

It wasn't a terrible movie, but it was just too flawed to be enjoyable.

'Mute' is a beautiful disjointed mess, especially in tone. Netflix movies are like airplane food when it come to cinema. I'm disappointed.

I know it's been rough for Duncan Jones in the last couple of years with his wife (Rodene Ronquillo) diagnosed with cancer and the passing of his father (David Bowie), and now this. It's incredibly sad that Duncan passion project couldn't live up to his vision. The ideas were there, but nothing panned out. I still look forward for what he makes in the future and hoping things work out for him.

Needs more Sam Rockwell thou.

Well that was a mess.

I’m just confused about how they managed to make the story of a mute person (which was told beautifully in The Shape Of Water) so uninspiring, underwhelming and dull. The film takes more time developing out its side characters than Alexander Skarsgård’s Leo who gives shoved into the messy incoherent story which has Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux in the centre of it (who really make the film watchable). Alexander Skarsgård’s Leo also felt unengaging and was lacking an emotional punch, possibly due to the underdevelopment of his character. The film is a bundle of missed opportunities and maybe the film would have better suited to have its world being more fleshed out, similar to Netflix’s Altered Carbon, than rushing it’s way through intriguing ideas.

Comparing this to Blade Runner makes me think Netflix is the new Asylum.

A lot of lost Potential here. The Main Character didnt got any time to build up instead we saw two other Characters got plenty. The Story was very slow and it took too long for an interesting turn to happen. The world looked amazing and had a classic german/berlin charme in a futuristic cyberpunk setting. Sadly that couldnt save it all. Its an OK Movie for Days you cannot decide what to watch.

Honestly, I'm as confused as the film was. I think the film's main flaw is it doesn't spend enough time building Leo up as a character. He only has two defining characteristics: He's mute and his girlfriend's been taken... and that's basically it. Oh, and he's Amish, which sometimes matters and sometimes doesn't. Rudd and Theroux are in the awkward position of saving the film, but at the same time they're the ones taking screen time away from Skarsgard's Leo in the first place.

I will admit, I didn't see the twist coming and the scene in which it's reveal was well crafted. There's pockets of a great film in here, it's just a shame it wasn't entirely a great film.
I swear that was Dominic Monaghan as Oswald (the guy with the ... robots) but for some reason he isn't credited at all as far as I can tell
Wow I really enjoyed this movie!

The plot was enough to keep me interested and easy enough to follow. Alexander did a terrific acting job showing emotions while being a mute. Definitely could feel his character’s frustration of not being able to speak.

Going to the underwater scene of him screaming....I could feel how that frustration must have had a good relief coming out underwater as opposed to trying to yell above water where nothing happens.

The futuristic spin on things was interesting to see as well. (Major LOL at the two robots in Oswald’s apartment)!!

Overall, I liked everything about this movie. Scenes, music, plot, etc was all done and put together well enough. I don’t think the movie is for everyone’s tastes, but then again, what movie is. Definitely recommend checking it out yourself and let yourself be the judge.
