The only thing I knew about 'My First Summer' going in was that it was a w|w film. I was expecting a cute little romantic comedy of sorts based from the poster and the title. Boy, was I wrong. Right from the start, this film hits you with a very unsettling feeling that looms over you for the entirety of it's 80 minute runtime. I found myself really caring about what happens to the characters and when it was over I felt a little tinge of sadness. Great debut from Katie Found.

Fantastic effort for a debut feature, I thought this was a really sweet film. The two young actresses I thought were both great, they played the "first time childhood love" story brilliantly. The character of Claudia was a bit all over the place, and her amazement toward the different candy Grace brought was a bit much, but I'd put that on the direction rather than the actor. Overall it was a very cute movie that will be a wonderful addition to my Gentle Cinema collection.

Yikes that wasn't good. Was hoping for a sweet wlw film but instead we got a mentally inept girl being shown affection/the world for the first time since being raised in isolation by her clearly unstable mother. I just felt uncomfortable for most of it! The actor playing Claudia was really overdoing it on the 'this is so new' faces too. Especially when eating food. I'm glad it was short coz I feel like I've just wasted an hour and 20 mins.
