I am such a sucker for these dialogue heavy, "podcast-on-film" type productions, and Nandor Fodor is no exception. Some will bemoan its almost pointless narrative, but it's what's between the lines here that's important. How far are we able to suspend our disbelief for a simple moment of joy? Does everything have to be proven, clinical and cold-hard-factual all of the time or can the lines waiver for some wonderment and awe? And by extension, what drives people to fabricate these stories? To bring people entertainment and joy? Notoriety to their name? To be remembered much after they're gone? All this from a movie about a talking mongoose!
Very cosy movie, and while threadbare in actual character arcs and resolution, it asks intriguing questions for me to chew on following my viewing. For me that's good enough, but I know most will not find the same enjoyment that I did.

I usually dig Simon's work, but this one was a miss for me. A lot of talking and walking without clear purpose, nor complex or interesting plot. The sillyness and goofiness is weak and the comedy non-existant. The ending is also open, so we don't even get a clear answer to the main question in the movie: Is Gef real or not? It may have some hidden meaning or something like that, especially taking count the last dialogue, but for me was not higher than a 3

I was going to give this a 6 but Simon Pegg for the first time I can think of was not playing himself to I gave it a 7. It took me a bit to get used to it. But in the end he was acting and I got into the character. It can be a hard movie to get into, wife had no clue what was going on but it is silly and fun. Props to Simon Pegg, looking forward to see what he does next.
