A group of Malayali travellers were returning to Kerala by bus after their visit to Velankanni. They all doze off in a lazy nap after lunch. Like a traveler who forgot his destination, James stops the bus in a village in Tamil Nadu. He starts to speak in Tamil like a native of the place, Sundaram, and behaves like him, confusing all who came with him and the villagers alike. He walks amidst faith, delusion, dream and trance, followed by others.

#NanpakalNerathuMayakkam is a wierd film whose absurdity is beyond my understanding. Even with the preconceived notion that LJP's filmography is mostly layered, filled with allegorical elements , the barrier of not understanding the language fails me to consume this film like the locals would. Theni Eashwar's cinematography is definitely admirable courtesy to the long wide takes and symmetrical frames used. Again the music for me was just reading subtitles. Overall, the film is slow , absurd for the most part and can be watched if you really speak the tongue. Check my Instagram: www.instagram.com/stream.genx
