Unfortunately, very trivial. Flat form with no character, no emotion. The biggest pluses is Lea, soundtrack and beautiful pictures of winter NY.

I'm so going to get flak for this, but I kind of enjoy these story mashups. Especially when they feature a lot of well known actors and actresses.

But...

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have watched this if it hadn't been for the fact that my wife adores New Year's Eve.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't have a bad two hours, but there are certainly a few other movies that I might have chosen...had that been an option. Apparently I'm not allowed to pick movies for us to watch all that often, and certainly not on New Year's Eve. ;)

I heard these movies are bad, but this was staggering. The acting is bad, the directing is bad, the script is bad, and every single interaction between any two characters is bad bad bad.

cheesy af. I gave it 10 for Pfeiffer's dancing moves at the end.

From director Garry Marshall comes the fun and heartwarming romantic comedy New Year’s Eve. The film follows a series of interconnecting stories taking place at the Times Square ball dropping on New Year’s Eve. Starring Hilary Swank, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Zac Efron, the cast is quite impressive. The writing’s also well-done, and is able to develop each storyline and balance it with the others quite effectively. Additionally, the film has a sincerity and good-nature to it that’s charming. But admittedly, New Year’s Eve is formulaic and full of stereotypes; yet it uses them to good effect and delivers a festive and delightful comedy that celebrates the spirit of new begins.

It's okay. At least worth a watch. There's just a lot of different stories to follow.

Lots of talented cast wasting their time. Once again, hiring a whole lot of beautiful, talented celebrities does not a good movie make. A couple of good moments (the end credit montage being one of them), a lot of really bad ones, but mostly too many subplots to care about any of them. I'm giving this movie a 5 (meh) out of 10. I wouldn't say this is bad since it does have a pretty good cast, it just isn't a magical holiday movie.

Disjointed and uninspiring movie. The characters are underdeveloped and I did not connect with any of them at all.

If you want to see how a movie of this type is done, watch Love Actually.
