its a good movie, but i was kinda hyped about the "disturbing" stuff, but its not really disturbing. i guess maybe one or two scenes are a little bit creepy but overall there is not sooo much horror. but the storytelling is awesome and its well made.

This had showed up in my youtube recs a bunch but I ignored it until this past Halloween season. I like a Found Footage horror if done right. This one mostly is. When they reveal too much it can be silly but that happens extremely rarely, I think twice for a total of 3 seconds in the whole thing. Also, the character who covers ALL of his clothes in tin foil I can see really taking people out of the movie for being so cheesy and it almost did me but I was able to mostly deal with it to the point that by the end I had come around on it. The guy is just SUCH a tortured psychic that he'll do anything to stop the voices. I kind of like that. Hard to say much more without giving away key plot moments that are better off left seen by the viewer themselves, but this is definitely worth your time. I want to see his genre-follow up Occult sooner than later.

Justice for Kana! Like hearing the wrong kind of noises coming from the walls of your bedroom or trying to explain away the faces that appear in the flare of the last photo on the roll, Noroi: The Curse will tickle you with the best kind of unease. This 2005 Japanese production about a psychic journalist trying to piece together odd bits of unexplained phenomena in Tokyo succeeds in delivering a solid work on demonic possession. The film might've been more effective if the knotted ropes trying together the different story lines had been tighter, but that doesn't prevent Noroi from being overall entertaining. I mean, mockumentary found footage horror on Friday night!? What was the world invented for if it wasn't for this?

I suppose I continue following - and bookmarking - these curated lists of horror films (along with other genres) because, in spite of probably 90% of these films being anything from a mediocre film to an absolute dud, every great once in awhile you run across a rare gem that just scares the bejabber More
