After her character met an early demise in "the Man with the Golden Gun" Maud Adams returns to the Bond franchise as the titular Octopussy. She's an incrdible beautiful woman and the chemistry with Roger Moore is absolutely there. Kabir Bedi, of Sandokhan fame, plays the henchman of Kamal Khan and also leaves his mark on the movie.

Some of the stunts are again absolutely crazy if you keep in mind the really did it in camera.

I always felt the later Roger Moore Bonds were really entertaining. And this was the first on I actually saw in cinema plus it was filmed partly in my home country.

So, that's high marks from me once Moore.

Not my favorite of the Roger Moore films, but also not bad! It was just a good, run of the mill Bond film. I probably will not revisit this one anytime soon, but I enjoyed checking it out!

Rating: 2.5/5 - 70% - Worth Watching

Count me in the minority of fans who like this film. Orlov is an over the top ham and Maud Adams is a great Bond girl that shares great chemistry with Moore in my opinion as they were good friends in real life. I really feel this film rectified wrongs of The Man with The Golden Gun, although it brought in its own wrongs like the infamous Tarzan scream.

Very little to recommend this one.

Moore is looking and acting old so there's a lot of humour to limit the action and when the action does occur, there is an abundance of stunt doubling.

I got fed up of the silliness. Dressed as a clown, dressed in a gorilla suit... where did all that The Spy Who Loved Me magic go?

The one small saving grace was the fabulous Alfa Romeo GTV going sideways a lot!

By far the worst Moore film and it's even worse than Diamonds Are Forever.

Despite the ridiculous title, Octopussy delivers an exciting and fun Bond adventure. The story follows James Bond as he's sent to India to uncover a smuggling operation that's being run by the mysterious Octopussy. Roger Moore delivers one of his best Bond performances here; giving just the right mixture of comedy and action. And Louis Jourdan does an excellent job as the villain, creating a rich character with a menacing and sinister presence. As usual, the story is pretty convoluted and goes off in some bizarre directions, but it's just entertaining enough to go with. Octopussy delivers a campy, action/adventure that's among Moore's best Bond films.

After the highs of For Your Eyes Only we get Octopussy. From the start you don't have high hopes as 009 is incompetent (escaping from assailants and he keeps the balloons, wig and clown feet on?) Then there are the stupid elements: zooming in and out on a woman's breasts, the hot air balloon emblazoned with the Union Flag; a network of highly competent female smugglers who wear bikinis when assaulting the bad guy's fortress; Q in the field; and, worst of all, the Tarzan yell as Bond swings through vines in the jungle (this last one so "good" they repeated it in the next film but with a Beach Boys song as Bond snowboards away from Russian troops!)

There is one redeeming feature though: Octopussy is quite a strong character herself and a worthy ally.

I think the first hour of this one is fantastic. You are discovering clues to the plot nice and paced out well while having a few cool action pieces. Comedy starts out nice and level. None of it is too crazy... until you get a jungle scene. That part is way over the top. Luckily, after that it gets back to being pretty solid, with just a bit of slowness. Villain has a great personality, and there is a pretty cool action sequence at the end that Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol ripped off. All in all, a good mix of seriousness and fun.

The Bond where 007 has to protect a faberge egg. No, it's not some special egg with fantastic, world-dominating powers, just a faberge egg with a high price tag. No heists involved or anything, just auctions and... circuses. Not exactly the most thrilling of Bond plots is it now? Funny how a film with a theme song called "All Time High" can be so boring and crap.

Despite having one of the best & most memorable names, the film sadly lacks its greatest ever villain “Jaws”. His replacement is instantly forgettable. Despite this it’s still a good film.
