After 20 years of marriage, Maria decides to leave her husband. She moves into room 212 at the hotel across the street, with a bird’s-eye view of her apartment, her husband and the life she shared with him. While she wonders if she made the right decision, many of the people in her life offer their opinions on the matter. They intend to let her know, whether she likes it or not, on what proves to be a life-changing evening.

[Filmin] Tiny movie. Comedy with some brilliant moments. It's easy to empathize with the lovers, it's easy to fall in love with Chiara Mastroianni. A little more depth in development is lacking. An end of the road that does not give us the feeling that we have walked at all. Everything remains the same. You must be faithful to infidelity.

_Chambre 212_ / _On a Magical Night_ is the new kid at the front of the class trying to become the teacher's pet by showing off their dissected frog. The film takes an interesting approach by having the characters appear as different ages and interacting with themselves and each other, but sadly the discussion that ensues is every pseudo intellectual French dissection of a dead relationship. Add to that a Vincent Lacoste who seems less interesting with each successive film and a Benjamin Biolay who never was and you have an Michel Gondry idea smothered by smug pretentiousness.
