"It's been a long time comin' but i know change gon' come." Those lyrics are just as powerful now as they were in the 60's.

What a great film! The acting from all four of the main actors is amazing. I think they all nailed the feel of their respective characters. It was a smart choice to go with lesser known actors for this characters since they incredibly well known. Kingsley Ben-Adir was especially good as Malcolm X, I think he nailed the tone well. I loved the dialogue, and thought they brought up important issues and ideas that aren't normally discussed. Some might find it a little slow because it is a dialogue-heavy film, with one main setting, but I was entertained throughout. Regina King has killed it with her directing debut

[Stockholm FF] Impressive debut. Regina King knows how to make the most of Kem Powers' splendid adaptation. There are some imbalances in the first part, but since the reproaches arise being black ("you need to be for us to win") the story catches you. Magnificent Kingsley-Ben Adir. Touching ending that reinforces the measured montage of the great Tariq Anwar. And smart use of the camera, always in favor of actors.

_Four legends. One legendary night_
I'm not too familiar with Malcolm X, Ali, Brown & Cooke (I live in Europe) and their stories. The movie follows a slow storytelling, 114 minutes is far too long in my opinion. With that in mind, the night wasn't feeling ''Legendary at all''. That being said, the acting in this is sublime. And it’s good to personally educate yourself on X, Ali, Brown & Cooke. [7/10]

Like whiskey in history class, _One Night in Miami_ makes learning fun.

The fictionalized meeting of Malcolm X, Muhammed Ali, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke (written by Kemp Powers, who also co-wrote Disney's animated film _Soul_) gives the past a voice, and what a beautiful voice director Regina King and Powers have.

It's also a reminder I don't know nearly enough about Malcolm X. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start?

It was great to see all these powerful men in one room, talking about their beliefs and struggles. A win from Regina King

This kind of screenplay is always difficult to pull off successfully and Regina King did a brilliant job here. With that said, I feel like the film’s power comes a lot more from the four personalities being represented and explored and their legacies off-screen than from its diegetic world. That’s not to say the script, the acting and the directing aren’t great - they are - but the pull for me personally was much more related to the people I knew these men were in real life than anything else. But definitely worth your time and some sequences are really really great.

If you know more about the persons depicted than I do, I'd never even heard the names of Brown and Cooke before so had to Google them, you might enjoy it but can't say that I did. Boring flick about four men arguing in a motel room. More or less

A fine acting showcase and for the most part, a good film. After the many excellent reviews it has received, i have to say that i was a little underwhelmed, however. Good in parts, but for me, not the classic it has been hailed as.

I found it interesting but mistaken. It is indeed a legendary night with not so legendary dialogues. Although the performances are OK something is missing. Maybe the score, maybe the cinematography, maybe it is just the script.

Wonderfully acted and the issues discussed stay with you. Timely for when it was set and sadly more relevant for now.
Great Cast and considering it's minimal locations the director keeps it flowing well.
A little stagey with long monologues but when done this well it is worth the watch.

This movie pushes several of my well-worn buttons: filmed version of a play, dramatization of real-life events (that didn’t even happen), etc. The performances were fine, but it just isn’t going to do much for me.
