Former Green Beret Louis Stevens returns to his hometown of Miami after completing military service in Brazil, only to learn that his old high school has become a haven for gangs and drug dealers. After Stevens uses his capoeira skills to kick several drug dealers off of the school property, Kerrigan, one of Stevens' old teachers, sees the impact that Stevens has on the students. Kerrigan gives him the task of teaching Capoeira to a handful of the worst at-risk students at the school.

Routine martial arts movie - this time with capoeira Surprisingly, this movie doesn't feel as dated as many others made at the time. Maybe it is the music, maybe it is the pretty routine plot?

I enjoy this movie quite a bit. Around the time that this movie came out, I watched it quite a few times. I would take my copy (VHS) of it over to a friend's house where there were quite a few friends and we all would chill out and watch it. Some parts we just cracked up laughing at! Some years later I tracked down and bought a DVD copy. Also, as far as I know this was the first time that I had heard of this Brazilian martial art. I had seen it though for the first time in an arcade video game Street Fighter II, when I used to play the character who would do Capoeira fighting (in a fighting game) and his name was Blanka.

Nostalgic movie. Here in Brazil it wasn't release in theaters, but went directly to TV and was a time where Capoeira was in the peak, I remember my school's friends only talked about the movie on the next day after was showed in tv. I think many kids started practice Capoeira after watched. The title in Brazil is "Esporte Sangrento", something like "Bloody Sport"
