Ordinary People is a family portrait of Jane, 16, and her boyfriend, Aries, who live on their own in the chaotic streets of Manila. Surviving as pickpockets, the lives of the young couple change when they suddenly become teenage parents. But not even a month into parenthood, their child is stolen from them. In order to retrieve the child, the young couple is forced to take desperate measures.

The film seems to depict the lives of street kids in the Philippines, exposed to drugs, sex, violence and a corrupt police force that nobody cares about. And in all this, the media use their poverty to do their business. Except that the story itself is clumsy. I get the impression that the very end on the bus is intended to make us think about what Jane said on the radio... but since she's mostly without facial expression (perhaps due to her drug use), we have absolutely no idea what's going on in her head at that moment. So we're left with an ending that's impossible to interpret, since we're given no clues.
