Far far better than the more recent attempts like Contagion, etc. The only things I disliked were the F-words and that fact that Cuba Gooding Jr. became a "I can do anything" for the end of the movie.

Maybe not the best time to watch this movie with the Coronavirus epidemic but this movie is scary and unsettling. A little to close to home. This is a horror story!

I'm glad I got a covenant with God and got my guardian angels around me and my family. Isaiah 54:17 & Psalms 91.

Interesting, especially now. Except for the very Hollywood ending.

****It could/should have been so much better...****
I actually enjoyed Outbreak from the start although form the first few minutes you could tell it's a B+ movie at the very best.
However the enjoyment diminished dramatically when the good old fashioned Hollywood recipe of the one man army/hero who ignores laws, regulations, procedures, and simply does what comes to his head prevailed.

It did not come as a surprise because it seemed rather odd the fact that you have a VERY GOOD cast (Hoffman, Sunderland, Spacey, Gooding) and whilst I was holding the case at the DVD retailer I noticed the complete lack of press appraisal…or at least there's none in the UK packaging of the film. It might seem an unusual thought but it is very true.

Apart from that it was enjoyable in the very mild sense of the word. Another example that proves how good ingredients (director + cast + storyline) do not always make the perfect recipe.

My Score 5/10.

Wow, I cannot believe most of the cast in this movie have been cancelled.

Anywhere...'Outbreak' is terrifying, especially right now. I mean, just step outside and you will think you are in a movie.

I found it eerie how some scenes echo what is happening right now, such as: Lockdown and people refusing to follow health and safety measures. The performances from the main cast helped sell that sense of fear, even though the movie at times does lean back into Hollywood fluff.

If only happy endings do exist.

I see a lot of people calling it cheesy and cliché, but it was the 90's! It still shows how fast a virus can spread. I will say there is a lot of helicopter action in this movie. Way more than I remember when I watched this as a kid, but at least Dustin Hoffman delivers 100% as he always does.

Even though it's dated, the storyline is very relevant in light of COVID and (now) the recent outbreak of Monkeypox that the World Health Organization (WHO) has deemed a "global emergency". Granted, there were numerous scenes/parts of the film that were heavily dramatized but the underlying story still manages to show just how easily a small infection in one part of the world can so quickly and easily become a global issue. The acting was superb (with a cast like this, you would expect it to be!) and mostly believable. Kudos granted even for the musical score and cinematography; there were some great shots and the special effects (remember, this was 1995) are very good. The only strike against it I could really find was the very last scene; that cheesy line kind of took the shine off the entire movie. LOL

Could have been a good movie but it was ruined by left wing Hollywood's usual crap doing their best to portray the military defending their rights to spew their shit as the bad guys.

A little too dramatized for my taste, doesn't feel all that real.. Pretty decent plot though
