They should of left the original alone,this is no where near as funny as Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell in the original,I gave it a 4,see how PC can ruin a movie....

Seems like all the other commenters haven't actually seen this movie and are just upset that it's a remake. Yes, it's a remake, but it's its own movie, too.

I thought it stood on its own, differentiated itself nicely from the original while also updating the story in a way that feels timely and fresh. I also found it surprisingly funny, sweet, heartfelt, and utterly enjoyable. A great change of pace from all the cynical, mean-spirited comedies these days and endless parade of Marvel movies.

Eugenio Derbez is a successful Mexican Comedian and Anna Farris is as cute as funny as she has always been, and the 2 of them give balance and heart to this movie. It is fun to watch and lighthearted. Not an Oscar-winning movie, but truly a fun movie to spend 90 minutes laughing.

WARNING: The jokes have a mixture of US and Mexican humor. You may not get all of them, but you will still have fun with the actors' performances.

You know how sometimes people say "The funny parts are in the trailer." For this one, the ONLY funny parts are in the trailer. This is a pathetic mess, frankly.

Some people in the audience (that clearly hadn't seen the trailer and thus the joke was not spoiled) got a laugh, so I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. It tells the same story as the original (which was no masterpiece itself--sorry) but just does so with almost no mirth. And the transformation of the shrew happens almost immediately. All the laughs are in the first 15 minutes. You can pretty well leave after that. You know how it is going to end....even if you never saw the original.

That Hollywood level professional resources were wasted on this YouTube fan film tribute without using any of the collective creativity in the room is a shame and a sham all in one. The con game played here is on the audience. 2/10

Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez are no Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. The movie doesn't work without great chemistry and caring for the characters. The original had a wacky 80s vibe that worked for it but in modern day it just feels weird and forced. Plus it's not that funny and way too long. They should of left the original alone.

I love the original movie and this one was equally funny, However....I watched this on netflix and i don't know if it was just netflix but all of the spanish language in it had no subtitles, I literally had no idea what was happening in any of the spanish language scenes! It ruined the film for me honestly!

You see this movie? This is a very good example of a bad movie. This is a great movie to avoid. Please don't watch it. And it should be rated lower than it is so people don't waste their time watching it.

the cutscenes at the end were funnier than the movie. still decent flick. somewhat spoiler ahead.

never seen the original even though as a child it was ALWAYS on ktla. decent family comedy with a predictable storyline. the story focused more on him changing as a man than exploring the romantic angle, so much so that the wedding does not flow with the storyline. with the route they took, I would have preferred that the couple decided to really date first and maybe have the ending be "5 years later" type of thing. if he was becoming a better man, you could have also had him end not running the company but maybe being a consultant to his sister. also go into partnership with Bobby, since he enjoyed working with his hands. use his new found wealth to elevate not just his new family, but all the people who became his friends. help primo's music career take off.

Overboard, a remake/sequel of the original ‘80s hit comedy, is a rather disappointing and muddled film. The story follows an overworked nursing student/single mother who decides to get back at a rich playboy for throwing her off his yacht and getting her fired by making him think that he’s her husband and a low level construction worker when he washes ashore with amnesia. Unfortunately, the film’s bilingual quality is a real problem, as over a third of it is in subtitles; requiring a lot of reading that gets in the way of the comedy. However, Anna Faris is really good, almost too good as she kind of outshines her co-star Eugenio Derbez. And the jokes are pretty funny, delivering a number of laughs. Yet while it’s entertaining and has its moments, Overboard is a mediocre and formulaic family comedy.
