The story lead through how the key players in the GFC did a great job to save the US, and the world, but are so misunderstood by the general public that it lead to a rise in populism because people didn't (and still don't) recognise their brlliance. A couple of things make this different:
- although it is many of the same people (Bernanke, Paulson, Dodd, Frank etc), they were joined by ex Presidents Bush and Obama, and Secretary Pelosi. A nice coup for the film-makers.
- it was made 10 years after the bail-out, when most people have moved on, but there could be better hindsight.

But it left some question that came for me:
- why do these folks seem to think they did a great job? As GW said "I can tell all the Rotary Clubs in the mid-west that we saved another depression and no-one will believe me". It would help if there was something more that one of the key players saying "we did great - trust me".
- how come the same people who were running the system, the banks, the regulations became the same people who were left in charge to fix their own failings?
- what happened to diversity? 95% of these people are old white men. Is no-one else any good?
- how have they changed things? The crisis in the US CDI market that became the GFC resulted in increased distrust in the US markets, increased social disparity, an increase in companies not paying tax, a pain that millions of people in the USA and around the world are still feeling 15 years later.

At the end of it all, it make me a little sad that there is a such a sense of arrogance, even now, amongst a group of people like this.

And as I sit here during the 2020 Covid lockdown, I wonder - GFC was a disaster caused by bankers and Government, and recovery was terrible - what will our recovery from a natural disaster like a global pandemic look like?

I tried to watch this for some insight for the current impending crash and it’s obvious that zero lessons were learned from 2008. Many of the key players are still doing the same old shady crap! I can’t even finish this documentary, it’s making me sick.
