‪I’m not familiar with the story or the original movie, still I couldn’t help but feel that it lacked something the entire time. It’s not terrible, but it’s not good either. It hardly leaves an impression on you. It’s easily forgotten afterwards. ‬

A first time watch of a film I've seen thousands of times before. This version of _Papillon_ is a zombie film because when they resuscitated the original it came back without any soul.

An efficient adaptation of Charrie's autobiography, but while the actors are good, it pales in comparison to the earlier movie. Still worth a watch, tho if you haven't seen the original, I highly recommend it.

My favorite actors Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek gave a brilliant performance, I could feel the strong relationship you can have with someone in a context of survival and a quest for freedom. The ending was touching, sometimes we have to let go of the people we care about for their own good and well-being. Freedom is priceless.

It is pretty good. You gotta see the original also. Respect for Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.

The acting of Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek is what stands out here. The film on the other hand, falls a little flat. It's definitely longer than it needs to be at almost 2 hours 15 min. Outside of the two main stars, none of the other characters here really stand out.

Haven't seen the original so I was discovering the story with this movie, it's pretty good!

I haven't seen the original so I had no expectations for this. I thought it was a decent prison escape movie. A little too long and slow but Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek both give good performances. The story is interesting and it's even better knowing it is based on a true story.

wanted to watch this movie cuz of Rami Malek mainly, but also Charlie Hunnam, truly doesn't disappoint, easily one of my new favorite actors right now
i loved the 19th century look this movie had, always love seeing movies in such a setting, _theeeen_ he gets framed and is sent to prison, alright.

but overall, the story of Dega & Papillion's teamwork, trust, & resilience, and the fact that he went through all those years of solitary, not once, but twice, and managed to escape at the end and live a free man; what a story

An intense and emotional true story that many may not know about. The performances by Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek are outstanding, and the amazing visuals and thrilling action sequences add to the overall cinematic experience.

A decently made film with fine acting, however I found myself interested and compelled but on the verge of bored throughout most of the film.
[spoiler]After the grand escape failed I figured this must be based on a true story because nobody would write an escape movie this frustrating and futile. Walking away from this I am left wanting for a different story with a much more rewarding payoff. [/spoiler]
For an escape movie it lacks the payoff and it failed to hook me. If this was meant to demonstrate how bad the prison camps were it went about it the wrong way and fails to make a point that leaves an impression. As it stands it tells the story of just a small series of true events but without the character/story depth failing to make me care enough about the characters to keep me entertained.

I haven’t seen the original so not possible to judge it based on that but I think Charlie Hunnam was a bad cast for the character. As a thief I’d have expected him to come off as more of a grifter, shadier .. he’s seems to wholesome. I’m not sure if that is how the actor is playing it or if it’s just a side-effect of the fact that the actor is overly good-looking, even after being in solitary for, hmmm< I lost count.

It’s meh, which is too bad. With Rami Malek I wanted it to be better. He is sooo engaging to watch.

Decent remake which goes further than the original with an ending that tied up the film nicely.

Adorable, it has action, suspense and the fact that it is a real event makes the film something amazing And in my opinion never unimaginable hahaha.
