It’s a step-up over the fourth, but it’s still a far cry from the first. “The Marked Ones” succeeds, I believe because it is content with being a straightforward horror film with no pretences beyond that of frightening its audience. Nevertheless, even if it aspires to be nothing more than a simple horror flick, it falls short in providing consistently thrilling moments to warrant a fifth instalment in the franchise. Fans of the “Paranormal Activity” series will be the target audience for this film, and if you fall into that category, you’ll enjoy it because not only does it follow the same exact formula as the previous films in the franchise but also expands on the world they’ve already established and includes a satisfying twist at the end.

I appreciate that they changed it up a bit for this sequel. These movies don't really do it for me but I appreciate seeing a different spin on it through Latino culture and brujería. My wife refused to watch this because of that.

going the final destination way,
very clever and you have my
interest. yes the first act was
slow especially with all the
annoying goofing around
but once shit goes south it
became the Paranormal thrill ride
that keeps me loyal to this franchise.
I appreciate mixing things up for
this one and trying something new
first entry with no night time

"Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" fails to live up to the success of the original film in the franchise. Despite introducing a new family, the story feels unoriginal and the use of familiar camera techniques falls flat. The characters lack depth and the only one who evokes sympathy is the matriarch, Irma. The film attempts to tie the series together but ultimately falls short in delivering a satisfying conclusion.

I don't understand the low ratings and negative reviews. I thought it was really well made and very entertaining from the first shot to the last. Probably my favorite after the 3rd part.

There's a lot to love in this entry and as a standalone found footage film it would have been much better, but the baggage that comes with being a Paranormal Activity sequel makes it tacky and difficult to watch at times.

While it’s formulaic and clichéd, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones still manages to deliver some frightening chills. Though marketed as a spin-off, the story does feature some fairly prominent tie-ins to the main series. The plot follows a pair of teenagers who uncover a secret witch cult that may be behind a pair of mysterious deaths at their apartment complex. The found footage conceit works fairly well; as it starts out with high school graduation footage and other routine things that teens would film, and then moves into the murder investigation and witch conspiracy. Still, it takes a while for the plot to build momentum and get past the introduction to the series mythology. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones doesn’t have a lot of originality to it, but is does do a few new and interesting things with the series.

Really really loved that I got to learn and see so much more about the background and mythology of the saga through this than (other than PA3) the actual films. I wish I was a fly on the wall in Ana’s apartment.

I so wanted this movie to be good, but failed to scare me like the earlier versions did.... The ending did kinda creep me out, not to mentioned made me scratch my head a bit.

better than the last one´s but not even close to the 1st 2 genre masterpieces.

Silly Hollywood always accidentally marketing these comedy movies as horror movies.
