Ok, so this movies comes out in 2009, and I was 13 years old. Too young to watch it, maybe, but it was all people could talk about. I remember feeling pretty good about this movie. 13/14 year old me thought this was original, and scary, and resourceful. Me and my friends, we loved it! And then sequel after sequel after sequel whatever we loved about the first one dissapered, buried in mediocrity, unoriginal ideas, poor executions and greed. Whaterver worked for the first one did not work for the others. So, I forgot about the first Paranormal Activity. 2009, such a loooong time ago. And it was, rewatching this movie in 2020 is a strange experience. A lot has happened in the horror movies industry and the concept of haunted houses increased in popularity by a lot since this movie came out and Blumhouse Productions put out some pretty scary movies over the years. So rewatching PA reminded me of what I love most about low budget horror movies: the inventiveness, the long periods where nothing seems to be happening yet you're not bored at all. Lights going on and off in another room are scary. Good scares, that might make you overlook some of the flaws this movies possess, like not so great acting, very cheesy dialogue, a boyfriend you want to punch in the face more times that you can count, the editing is not that great, and neither is the camerawork, the story is not particularly strong.... But hey, what about that final scene huh? I guess, all I can say is, I like this movie, with its flaws and its stupidly infinite amount of useless sequels, it still has a place in my heart. 7/10.

Second time watching this, the movie that re-ignited the found footage craze that I absolutely hate and while this one has a couple creepy moments, I found this more dull than anything. At least Katie Featherston is cute. **2.25/5**

While I agree with the majority of the comments here that say this movie is "boring", at the same time I found it interesting enough to keep my attention both times I've watched it. Yes, it's plodding; yes, it's boring; yes, very little of it makes any sense but seriously..."lock the bedroom door"? That's your solution to whatever is going on? That's about as brilliant as all of Micha's so-called "solutions". (By the way, he's an arrogant butthead and she's an idiot for staying with him when he obviously showed ZERO support for what she was having to deal with.) If you're reading this review, the best thing I can say about it is that it's not for everyone. Most of the time it's very boring (simply because nothing is happening), and when a couple things do happen, it makes very little sense. I give it credit for having an extremely creepy vibe to it, but I would stop short of calling it "scary". They did a great job making this feel "authentic" but you have to sit through an hour-and-a-half of "home videos" and I would stop short of saying it's actually worth it. Not enough happens to merit wasting that much time.

Decent movie but could have better. They took to long for everything to start happening. They could have made it happen faster and also could have added more things happening to them, then what they showed. Otherwise just an ok movie.

**Paranormal Activity (2007): _6.5/10_** _(Fair, Above Average)_
___

There are some rough patches, but overall, it's not a bad film. “Paranormal Activity” is shot in a found footage format, with believable acting and some effective scares. The film brilliantly capitalizes on the concept that what's scariest isn't often what you see, but what you imagine, and it does so effectively. However, that is about all it has going for it; it is not really terrifying, the story is as ordinary as it possibly could be, and the conclusion leaves a lot to be desired. If you have some time to kill, you probably will not regret checking it out, but I personally don't think it's worth going out of one's way to do so.
