There needs to be more films like these ones. I'm into these ParaNorman/Coraline/Tim Burton aesthetic films. Bring me more, and keep them coming!

Are the raving reviews bought? I cant imagine anyone giving this above 6/10 or calling for "an oscar". WTF is wrong with people?

+ Good animations and design
+ Some nice ideas about the town and its ghosts in the first quarter
+ Car chase was good, although a bit long
+ Impressive visuals on the witch in the sky

- The second half of the movie was booooring
- The "message" was repeated like 20 times without adding anything to the cliché ridden plot
- We are supposed to like the scumbag sociopaths that did horrible things throughout the movie just because the non-sociopath saved them in the end?
- Out of 40 jokes only like 5 were actually funny instead of cringy

The film is good, presenting an interesting story that makes us reflect on how easy it is to get carried away. Furthermore, the Stop Motion is excellent, providing a unique visual experience. The ending is exciting and captivating.

My first Laika movie ever! Never got around to them. ***ParaNorman***'s tone is a perfect balance of cheerful, comedy, creepy, emotional and depressing it's never too much of either. Although the comedy isn't always funny. Very bizarre and it breathes Halloween spirit.

So many horror movie references. I love the score and it's always at the perfect volume. Good voice cast, nothing too flashy. It mixes excellent stop-motion animation with a bit of 3D and it's a mix that I love because it was done right. The ghosts look awesome but damn the zombies are even better, I was smiling the whole time. Lots of fun moments. It got a bit lengthy in the second act and started to lose me but the third act was all sorts of fun and emotions.

The "bullying is bad" themes are a bit too on the nose but it hits right with the family, friendship and especially compassion themes.

Level "Interesting" • 7 :heart: • Entertaining and Good.

This movie is amazing, it simply is. If you're on the fence, don't be, jump over it and watch it, It's got lessons fit for any age and one big one we all need to learn even today. Overall it's a fun movie with lots of great jokes and a few horror elements here and there too!

_Paranorman_ is a mediocre kids' movie. I like the animation style (see also _Coraline_, and _The Boxtrolls_), but there are far too many flaws for what should be a simple story. Most of the characters are thoroughly unlikeable; aside from Norman, and Neil, everyone is either mean and/or stupid. The movie is an hour and a half, but it feels incomplete, like a really long second act. The jokes fall flat, like a bad episode of The Simpson's Treehouse of Horror. The voice actors did a great job, and there are some big names in the cast.
I wanted to like this movie, because it seems like an animated movie I would have loved when I was a kid, and maybe kids twelve, and under will like this, but only while they are within that age range.

This tale about a boy who sees ghosts and attempts to save his town from a witch-applied curse is surprisingly scary in spots. This is not typical animation for kids. It's more adult and has much in common with "Coraline" in both its pacing and its look.

I absolutely loved the stop-motion animation and I wish there were more movies being made using it. The story is not a religious tale but it confusingly lumps aspects of religion (Heaven/Hell) with witchcraft and zombies. None of these begets the other, so using them altogether to relay a message of tolerance is going to be a little complicated for kids waiting for fart jokes. In fact, asking a restless kid to watch "ParaNorman" would be a bad idea. There's a lot of dialogue and not much action for lengthy stretches. It really feels more adult. Best to show that kid one of the "Transformers" movies again.

The final act and the Witch's storm was eye-popping. It was very impressive and was one of the more amazing moments of animation I've seen at the Movies.

Regular 3D Blu-ray disc. Nice horror movie not for small children. Picture is darker because of story. 3D is very impressive occasionally. I have a problem with not fluent picture and all jerkies caused me not very comfortable movie experience. Neither frames interpolation on my projector wasn`t as helpful as I wanted. Best part of 3D was before the end, when were showed an end credits. Audio wasn`t shame. All five channels were connected to the game.
I`m little vorried about future of 3D Blu-rays. Human brain has a huge problem adopt into non naturally composed shots and can`t focus to the information which give from eyes. It`s like an importation of binary world to our analog brain. Yes, we can realize this but it takes for a while and this time lag isn`t good for us. 4k UHD is much more better format for movies. It`s my oppinion.

ParaNorman is an animated film with a rather unusual story, and as such, has problems telling it. A boy with a talent for speaking to the dead is tasked with stopping a witch’s curse from destroying the town. With the voice talents of Anna Kendrick, Casey Affleck, Leslie Mann, and John Goodman, the film has a solid cast. The animation style is also fairly good and has a distinctiveness that fits the mood and tone of the film. However, the story sort of falls apart in the last act and doesn’t quite know how to resolve all of the plot threats going on. A little messy and unfocused, ParaNorman delivers a mildly entertaining adventure into the spooky and supernatural.

So the witch is Agatha Prenderghast and Norman's Great Uncle is Mr. Prenderghast. So I think Norman's Grandmother who is a Babcock (same as Norman) must have been a Prenderghast as well. So it's not said in the movie but my guess is that Norman and Agatha are related. Love this movie. Not quite as good as Coraline but this is probably my 2nd favorite from Laika.

Brilliant movie, and the stop motion was absolutely perfect! I was surprised since it's a kids movie, and it's definitely more scary and emotional than other children movies. Definitely a great movie to watch!

A lot of horror-type movies in animation this year. This one is pretty good, and despite it's comedy look and feel has a decidedly darker tone that even Frankenweenie. And it makes it pretty good because it challenges some of the conventions found in most animated movies. It takes the audience a bit out of their comfort zone, both in terms of character and storyline (I won't spoil the big reveal about one of the characters at the end), so if you're looking for a "safe" animated movie, this isn't for you. But I liked it a lot for challenging the norm. The paranorm, if you will. *rimshot*
