It is really hard to review this movie without mentioning Mel Gibson's "Payback" from 1999. They are both based on the same series of books with Jason Stathem Playing the titular character played by Mel Gibson in "Payback". Jennifer Lopez is also in this movie and her role feels forced and contrived with relation to the overall plot.

The premise is that the character, Parker, has a crew that turns on him in order to have enough money to prepare for an even bigger score that is lined up. Parker then has to make his way through the criminal underworld to find out what the score is so that he can get his revenge and his money back out of principal.

This is the exact same as "Payback" however the execution is completely different. The pacing of "Parker" suffers from the introduction of Jennifer Lopez's character in an effort to make the movie have elements of a rom-com. After much unneeded screen time she serves the plot by telling Parker where the crew is hiding out and what their target is.

There are a couple of redeeming moments in this movie but they are far and few between. There is not enough action in my opinion to make this a straight up action movie and it lacks the depth of characters to make it anything more. The main characters feel forced into the actions that they perform with little consideration as to why these characters would do what they are doing.

I would not recommend this movie for anyone that wants a solid story or good characters.

You can pretty much expect the same from Jason Statham movies, his movies very much remind me of Jackie Chan movies. The character is pretty much the same guy, and the outcome of every fight is pretty much predictable. Like Jackie Chan, Statham fight scenes are fun to watch but not much change. To me the movie was fair. As far as Jennifer Lopez character, I would have introduced a new actress for that part, Lopez in my opinion didn't bring anything to the character, you could have put a beautiful no name there and got the same.

I have to agree with this. Compared to others' Statham movies, let's say, Safe, this one is pretty weak. The action didn't fill up the weakness from the plot.

Jason Statham once again proves to be very dangerous fella to double cross. This time, "Parker" meticulously plans a heist that nets him and his gang a million bucks. They are greedy, though, and when they want to use their ill gotten gains to stake an even bigger robbery - which our man "Parker" isn't so keen on; they dump him on the roadside, left for dead. Bad move! Once he is back on his feet, he works with the frankly annoying realtor Jennifer Lopez to thwart their proposed robbery. As you would expect, there are loads of fisticuffs, gun battles and plenty of bloody noses in this action-packed crime thriller. It will not challenge your little grey cells in any fashion; nor will the dialogue stimulate a heated debate over coffee and cigars afterwards - it is a fun outing for Statham, aided by Patti LuPone and Nick Nolte on occasion and is precisely what you should anticipate it being...
