I like Found Footage movies and it was fun to see another one playing in theaters. Too bad I never cared for "The Blair Witch Project" though, because this is a spittin' image but with high school students getting lost while being taunted by lights in the sky.

"Phoenix Forgotten" is slooooooow. Personally, I have no problem with that but this will not play well with the targeted PG-13 audience. Actually, it probably won't be an issue if no one goes to see it. I was the ONLY person in the theater I saw it in.

This is being categorized as a Horror movie, probably because a Documentary or Science Fiction tag won't pull in the teenies that, after seeing it, it was made for. The documentary style continues until about the last 15 minutes and then mercifully, answers are slowly revealed. The last moments are unnerving, loud and chaotic, but not scary.

One of the most encouraging takeaways from "Phoenix Forgotten" is it somehow manages to avoid jump scares entirely. When a PG-13 horror movie lacks even a single jump scare, it must mean that annoying substitute for genuine scares is a trend that's fallen out of favor.

I'm tired of the found footage genre now, but this one was surprisingly decent. The cinematic approach helped, and while it won't remain in the memory for long, it's better than most of the dross that now populate pound shop bargain bins.

I thought it was actually a pretty good movie. Like most found footage movies, it’s a slow burn, but once you make it to the end, you’ll be treated with some cool and fun scenes.

this is how you make a found footage mockumentary. i was entertained the whole time and with the true story behind the light seeings this one felt freakishly real. for my taste the horror aspect was a little bit too insufficient, but in the end quite effective. i was suprised how well it is made and then i realized its produced by ridley scott. recommend this for everyone who enjoys stuff like The Bay or Lake Mungo.

Stopped about halfway. Really was feeling like I clicked some weird random YouTube UFO video.

There's not much to recommend here. It's not a bad movie per se, but there's nothing unique or standout for this entry into a worn out "genre". Not to sound redundant, but it basically is just a sci-fi version of Blair Witch.

That typical found footage movie that everyone shits on but it's actually a great movie.

"Slice of nothing exceptional happens"... Really surprised the narrative was just dropped by the end. It was sort of the not generic thing this had going.
