Film 122 (Goal: 300) of 2024: A standard modern day streaming comedy. That's not a bad thing, but it's ultimately forgettable and another sign that most comedies that are remotely decent, are aiming for acceptable not great. The cast is generally okay with specifically Liza Koshy (more of her please) being a delight. The usually great Tom Ellis is muffled under a character that ultimately goes nowhere. That's not his fault, but the script gives him nothing other than charming. Augustus Prew flirts the line of becoming a caricature but ultimately manages to ride on the side of being enjoyable. The weakest part of the film is ultimately the forced loved angle between the two leads. While it's clear from the first scene that's where the story is heading, and both Damon Wayans and Gina Rodriguez are enjoyable enough, their chemistry is ultimately light and doesn't warrant investment.
