After the disappointment that was Police Academy 4, this one succeeds in delivering some funny scenes and nice laughs here and there. The script is more structured than the previous movie and all the scenes are played for laughs which is better than the last movie trying to make us care for Zed and his love affair out of nowhere.

Incredibly dumb and slapstickish, Police Academy 5: Assignment - Miami Beach is a mass of stupidity. The Policy Academy's finest head to Miami when Commandant Lassard is set to be honored as Police Officer of the Decade at the National Police Chiefs Convention, but when a bumbling thief accidentally switches luggage with Lassard hijinks ensue. Steve Guttenberg is MIA, and his absence is felt. And while Matt McCoy steps in as a Mahoney like character, he’s a poor substitute. But what’s really missing is the team dynamic, as the characters are written as one-note jokes. Spectacularly awful, Police Academy 5: Assignment - Miami Beach is an embarrassment to the series.

I don't know. As an adult, yeah, this is a HORRIBLE installment.

But as a kid, I actually thought it was still pretty good, still pretty funny, still slap stick and stupid, and everything I wanted from a Police Academy film.

But... as an adult, it's not as funny as I thought it was as a kid.

...and this time there are plenty of _golf balls to slip on._ Never before have I laughed so long and so hard at a man slipping on a golf ball. Captain Harris lost his trouser because the silly man who makes the sounds made an _amusing beeping noise._
