Better than I expected, and really cool seeing actors from other horror films in this. I love the "movie within a movie" subgenre of horror. This is almost as good as Anguish (1987) and Demons (1985). A real nice twist on the horror genre.

This movie has held legendary status amongst most horror circles I've been around, but for the life of me, I can't for the life of me figure out why. I mean, it's okay, but it's nothing to get cracked over. It makes attempts to inject humor and have fun with the genre, much like Jason Lives and Scream, but it doesn't pull it off soo well. I blame a lot of the problems on the behind-the-scenes issues that surrounded it. It has an interesting enough premise though, so it's okay to waste time with if you're looking for a new slasher. The most effective part of the whole thing is the poster and ad campaign, which admittedly was very effective and memorable back in the day.

Some excellent prosthetics and fun moments but overall I found it to be a miss. Saw it during Joe Bob Briggs' Halloween special on shudder. 5.0

What a messy film but damn if it isn't fun. I didn't know what to expect from this slasher comedy. But I was pretty impressed overall. It offers an appealing premise for horror geeks and has the perfect blend of meta with over-the-top 80s slasher cheese that work incredibly well. The overall tone of this film is lighthearted and goofy instead of scary, but it somehow still maintains the macabre and disturbing moments throughout. Lots of inventive death scenes and pretty impressive effects which are awesome. Also really like the whole idea of the murders taking place during a horror film marathon with fake b films being shown. It's certainly an oddity and worth checking out.
