Creepy, unsettling moody British horror film with very good sound editing. It's not going to be for everybody as it requires a bit of guesswork, but I found it very intriguing.

If this extremely atmospheric dread filled nightmare sauce of a descent into madness film doesn't unnerve you throughout, you're more jaded of a horror watcher than I

The Muppets Take Manhattan this is not. A deeply unsettling film about one man and his puppet, a symbolic creation that embodies his real-life nightmares. Not for the faint of heart or for those who favour a simplistic narrative over imagery.

There is so much trauma underneath the surface of this chilling character study that it almost reeks of the screen. The best way to describe the movie is to think of a creepy crawler that you hate the most and imagine it on your skin; it’s THAT feeling of repulsion and violation.

Cliche low energy mental man in the grimiest home possible (deep) is haunted by spider with a human looking head. Revolves around a 'what's in the bag' mystery for 20 minutes even though we know what's in it. When the Phillip is outside his old school and replies to the new teachers as if he's still in school I laughed. Spends most of his time faffing about with the spider thing. He wants it. He doesn't want it. Unzip the bag. Zip it back up. Go to the woods again.... Until the end when it's all about the abuse suffered at the hands of a yellow toothed old man. Great. Ends with the cleanest neck break since Arnold was in his prime. Let me guess the spider was the molester hands all along. Well that makes up for a boring movie.

Creepy psychological art horror, a failed "puppeteer" is forced to confront trauma. This was an uncomfortable watch. Not blood and guts uncomfortable, but mold, decay, and what-the-hell-is-going-on uncomfortable with a rather disturbing spider "puppet" (see poster) along for the ride. Incredible acting, though the ridiculousness of how dour the main character's face is throughout most of the movie verges on the absurd.

I didn't enjoy watching this movie, but it's a good movie and I'll probably think about for a long while. And because of that, I'd probably watch again. Suggested.

Definitely needs a second watch.
I couldn't understand everything that the characters said.
A movie best watched going in with no information, a psychological horror focusing on a man and a mysterious duffel bag containing
a puppet of a spider with a human head.
By the end 30 minutes of the film it makes sense.
I enjoyed it but I felt disconncted from the story due to not hearing the poems and dialogue well.
Interspersed through the different parts of the film are passages from a book drawn by the main character about his past. (The poems)
My main gripes are with the music played at typical jump scare parts. The story too is a bit disjointed and constantly foreshadowed by a repeating news story on the tv at the backdrop. The main actor really suits the role well.
I had a strong inkling the movie was about abuse or some traumatic memory.
Bleak and harrowing imagery with a cacophonous soundtrack make for a haunting British slow burn. Most will be put off by the somewhat nonsensical telling and obtuse script, but those willing to connect the dots and practise some patience will be greatly rewarded by the black-as-coal tale being told. I can already feel this one sticking to my brain, great horror flick.

This was quite an experience. There aren't many occasions when a film keeps me off-balance like this one did. I was never really sure where the story was going. The two lead characters are overwhelmingly creepy, or more accurately, gross. Sean Harris is especially amazing as a dysfunctional man (Philip) who was once a puppeteer who entertained children. Umm...hopefully not with the spider puppet he carries around all the time. Parents...avoid puppet shows!

This film has a practically apocalyptical look, with everything appearing dirty, dilapidated and broken. There are times when the spider puppet haunts Philip that are as frightening as anything I can remember watching over the last few years. The only negatives were a few jump scares that were totally unnecessary, especially as _Possum_ scares most when at its deliberate pace.

This will be a tough watch for most movie goers as there's no one to cheer for and there's not a laugh in site. This is a dark, dank psychological Horror film focused on the fallout and destruction of lives due to child abuse. It's ugly and almost otherworldly, but I couldn't look away.
