As @ Malik Heru stated, you can't over or under think this one, but just immerse yourself in the story. Another "It all started in Roswell..." Alien's be a coming, tale, but, the twist is, in our desire to pre-emptively strike, we could end up being the agents of our own demise.

A child is born whose mother was infected by spores dispersed in the Roswell crash. She develops heightened intelligence, and tele-kinetic abilities with technology. Naturally the Guvment' kidnaps, tortures' her, and tries to turn her into a Trojan Horse like a living, human "Independence Day" viral weapon, save for Agent John Brighton, who has taken a liking to her and tries to save her.

It seems the Aliens have been taking thousands of humans for decades, from different time periods, and, like the machines in "The Matrix" it needs them (or more precisely their fear and emotional energy) to fuel their ship, until they find the key to open a dimensional portal to bring ALL their folks through.

Earth's defense department thinks they're playing 3D chess, but in the end, it is the aliens who may be playing a 4D game, as they use the now grown child's growing affection for those around her, to cause her to have to make a choice.

Spock once said "The good of the many outweighs the good of the few, or the one", except when as Kirk countered, when "the good of the one outweighs the good of the few or the many".... How one decides which is the right choice, is at the crux of this movie, and in the end, one has to ponder if Sera made the correct choice, or maybe simply a Sophie's choice.

No ray guns, battles, or space explosions, but, an interesting philosophical thought experiment for those who like a bit of meatier fare on occasion. Low budget, but well presented, and I enjoyed it.
