the franchise has had a long stretch of terrible (damn near unwatchable, imo) movies - Fangoria produced this solo reboot, which is still not great but a huge improvement overall. i thought they did a solid job with the practical effects and if you're a fan of the earlier efforts, this one should be worth a watch.

Not gonna say this is a great film. But it was the reboot up the ass of this once awesome series that has been near unwatchable for decades before this one came out. Fun, gory and gives zero f's. Best PM since '94

I've only seen the first Puppet Master so I don't have a huge love for the franchise or anything. This isn't a good movie and has some questionable elements for shock value but god damn if the practical effects aren't top notch. What a relief to not have to look at CGI blood. Also, and most importantly, it has Barbara Crampton in it. Anything she is in is instantly better with her on screen.

Was I watching a Troma film? Damn, the gore was cranked up to twelve here! Not much story but an excuse to go gore on all these hotel guests! Damn these little puppets are nasty!

If you just want a gore-fest than this is it, you have a doll, I mean puppet, steal a baby from a pregnant woman, you have a lad pissing on his own head, you have arms getting ripped off, decapitations and what not!

It has an open ending, ready for a sequel which I would watch. For sure! If Zahler is still writing! Damn that dude did a good job. Anyway, I wish there was a bit more plot but sometimes you don't need it. Will I ever watch the rest of the Puppet Master franchise? Maybe, there are a lot. We'll see!

So yeah, if you want gore with practical effects and loads of blood, this one is for you!

It's a really mean-spirited reboot, but enjoyed it, with all its goofy over-the-top ridiculousness. It felt more like a Troma movie than a Full Moon one, but that's probably for the better these days. And I actually didn't mind the redesigns of the puppets, still wish some more of the classics made appearances though. The cliffhanger ending is a bit annoying, but it's not like that hasn't been part of this series before...
