Past its mediocre production values, PVT Chat feels like a meditation on the transactional, hypercapitalist hellscape we find ourselves in today. Jack is the embodiment of the faux success that plagues the current generation, pretending his gig lifestyle of winning small hands at blackjack are bigger and more successful than they really are. Completely isolated from his peers, he is forced to purchase interaction and intimacy from a masseuse or a cam-girl, unable to form a connection with anyone organically. PVT Chats black-as-night outlook on life definitely comes through for the majority of the films runtime, but does offer a glimmer of light during the finale that is appreciated. The dynamic camera work and subpar performances do drag down the overall quality of the production, but it was far from unwatchable.
