Is the plot original? No, we've seen this before. Disney does stories like this all the time.

But I don't care. Sometimes they fall down on the execution—but other times, they knock it out of the park. There are head-scratching moments in here, yes, and you have to just go along with them. What's great is that the film's _vibe_ makes it really easy.

Sometime in the past week I'm _positive_ a perfect quote about this floated my way, either in a video interview or a quote published in one of numerous film- and television-related articles I've read over that period. I couldn't find it again tonight, so I'll have to write my own "quotable" and apologize for not crediting whoever said the original that inspired me:

> Movies only need a plot to get from A to B, but it doesn't really matter. If the film creates a _feeling_, that's what the audience will remember, and that's why they'll want to share your movie: So others can feel the same feeling.

_Radio Rebel_ does that quite well, in my humble opinion. Forget the
sociopathic principal who single-mindedly exterminates joy
. This movie has a great feeling, and a great message, to share.

Also, this should be on Disney+ instead of Pluto and other random FAST sites. It's _much_ better than most of the other DCOMs that have taken me down memory lane these past few weeks.

Decent watch, probably won't watch again, and can't recommend.

I'm honestly not a big fan of Debby Ryan, though she definitely can own a role, and I'll even admit she basically carries this movie. Because I'm not a particular fan of her flavor, it may have affected my view of the movie though.

I'm very into her character of a high school ghost, shadowing as an airwaves vigilante though. The weirdness of being a "rebel" though is the company sponsorship angle. It allows for mechanical parts of the story, but feels a little antithetical.

The more interesting angle is the witch hunt for Radio Rebel: it takes some interesting turns, but ultimately lands in the predictable results.

It's a good enough watch, it's just nothing special.
