Kamal resolves to change his life for the better, and so leaves Belgium to help victims of the war in Syria. But when he arrives, he is forced to join a militia and is left stranded in Raqqa. Back home, his younger brother Nassim quickly becomes easy prey for radical recruiters, who promise to reunite him with his brother. Their mother, Leila, fights to protect the only thing she has left: her youngest son.

A, I think, realistic portrayal of Brussels youth being recruited by IS. Some tough scenes and I found the story very engaging almost from beginning to end. Also nice to see a bit of Brussels in a movie. I was not prepared for some musical moments, they felt strange but at the same time a very good addition in my opinion.

Honestly a very painful movie to watch, especially considering it deals with a real problem in my home country. I can’t say I had a good time watching this, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great movie, because it absolutely is. The acting is top notch, as is the story. The dancing segments (of which there are only a handful. so don’t let that hold you back) felt out of place, like a couple of hip hop videoclips embedded into a drama movie, well made and choreographed, but imo they didn’t fit in with the rest of the film. Overall I would recommend this one.
