Other reviewers have said it is the best "found footage" film they have seen, I would go beyond that and say it's the best and scariest horror film I have ever seen, by far.

I definitely recommend this, if you are looking for a terrifying film then this will not disappoint.

I agree about the last part. The rest wasn't that scary.

[REC] is definitely one of the better zombie movies. The claustrophobic atmosphere was really effective.

That is aún amazing horror movie. First person like the viewer is the principal character. By moment seems like a Silent Hill videogame the horror, suspense, tension, and a claustrophobic feeling every scene.
The attic moment when fall down a stair and show under the light of lantern a zombie boy is the best horrible moment of the movie
Great surprise this movie. Very interesting and frightening. Amazing.

I really liked it. Great found footage horror movie. A late night TV news show crew is doing a piece on some firefighters that work the night shift. They get a call to an apartment building and things... go horribly. Took a little while to get moving, but damn did it deliver. The last maybe ten to fifteen minutes were incredible. Really want to see the next in the series.

Hard to knock the movie for this, but the English overdubbing took me out of the movie a few times. The version I rented (on Prime) didn't have an option for having the original Spanish with subs. If you can get 'em, watch with the subs.

This movie is an experience. It stands out because it has strong characterization, and a rather well orchestrated buildup.

Sadly, it was also remade into the complete and utter piece of shit "quarantine". Unfortunate because I really used to scare the shit out of people with this years ago :) but now they go "oh wait I've seen this" but it was the horrid remake.

In closing, if you liked "The Descent" (2005) and other modern style violent thrillers, treat yourself to this. It has a 7.6 on imdb with 56k votes for a reason.

I was never really a fan of the found footage genre because I find more often than not it's just used to excuse a low budget, bad acting, and a bunch of filler dialogue, but this movie is honestly a masterpiece of the horror genre as a whole. It does so much with a single small apartment and what I found most impressive was that it didn't resort to some contrived scenario where the protagonist is for some reason alone and cut off from the outside world--no, all the apartment residents are present and there's constant communication with the police outside the walls, so the fact that the movie can still remain tense and scary is no small feat.
