Joseph Smith (Jason Statham) is an ex-Special Forces soldier haunted by his time in the war, he becomes involved in organised crime and and takes revenge on a man who beats and kills prostitutes.

I have mixed feelings on this one. It is not the typical Statham movie of just beating endless amounts of bad guys through the movie. I am not against the less action approach, but it at least has to have the more character driven approach be more interesting. It is quite a dark one and a realistic one at that. It shows the London streets in a gritty way, and it looks amazing.

It shows Jason Statham in a way I don't think I have seen before. The emotional depth to his character was a welcome surprise and he pulls it off quite believably. Agata Buzek did a great job as the young nun. There are a few fight scenes in this movie that is done quite well. If you are watching this expecting an action movie, prepare to be disappointed. It is more of a crime drama that just doesn't quite reach the heights of anything of any real impact and was a little shallow.

My main issue is it didn't have a cohesive story. It did feel a bit disorganized at times which really effected the pacing and many of them felt unresolved. Too many plots trying that felt too distant from one another and suffers as a result.

Hummingbird had some stunning aesthetics in the dark streets of London and a pretty interesting character roaming them streets, but it lacked a good story to go with. 5/10.
