Return of the Living Dead Part II isn’t so much a sequel as a remake. Once again barrels of Trioxin are discovered and opened in a small community, resulting in the reanimation of the dead. The plot hits the same beats and recreates some of the same scenes of the original, only in slightly different ways. The tone however, is way too jokey and slapstickish. Some of it’s funny (if for no other reason than how crazy it is), but most of it’s idiotic schlock. Missing the darkness and clever satire of the original, Return of the Living Dead Part II is uninspired tripe.

Great follow up with the same main actors from the first film. An enjoyable sequel although not quite as good as the first but still enjoyable. Warning! After watching this, forget about watching part 3. The story ended with part 2 & the franchise was sold off to straight to video low budget company.

"I feel like we've been here before. You...Me...Them!"

Return of the Living Dead Part II is a cheesy downgrade from the first film, even if it does have some amusing moments of comedy.

They take the slapstick element way too far.

Awful, took me 2 years to finish watching just because I felt the obligation to. I had more fun watching part 3 because it felt like a B movie, this one felt like an F movie.

Such a lame sequel. Seeing it with its soundtrack intact was nice, and improved it a bit. But still, it's a weak effort. feels more like a kids movie version of the original. On that level I guess it wouldn't be soo bad...

Breaks the cardinal rule of horror movies. Never - not EVER - cast an annoying little kid in a horror movie. This one is particularly irritating. And because he IS a little kid, you just know he is indestructible. I was hoping for him and his awful acting to get eaten the entire time, but knew it was never going to happen.

The only time you are allowed to cast kids in horror movies is if they are possessed by Satan. Otherwise, just don't do it.

No. Just no. What a let down. 6.2 million budget and the zombies look oike they're wearing toy shop masks.

Late night TV is not as fun as it used to be...

Return of the Living Dead is a classic. There's no doubt about that. The Return of the Living Dead Part II on the other hand...

The comedy becomes just cringeworthy instead of funny. The effects are bad even for a late eighties horror romp, and the story is none existent. And because of that, you can't really blame the actors for delivering a rather mediocre performance.

Just rewatch the first one instead of this. You'll thank me later...this one is just about an hour and a half of pure garbage...

Return of the Living Dead was a great movie, this one's just alright. A serviceable sequel and pretty typical late-80s horror flick.
