Something is missing in this movie about the friendship between two competitive women who met in college and have stayed close for over 20 years. Oh yeah, the friendship is missing. About 116 of the 117 minutes of this film are devoted to proving the animosity and jealousy that exist between Liz and Merry. From being authors to their love for Doug, they just don't seem to even like each other. Bisset does manage to pull off some sensuality in her two trysts with younger men. The only recommendation I can give for this movie is if you like to see actors before they made it. Matt Lattanzi _My Tutor_ makes a brief appearance as a weird 18 year old stalker figure. The major debuts here are found in the same role - that of Merry and Doug's daughter Debby. At age 8 she is played by Nicole Eggert and age 18 is Meg Ryan which is fitting because this movie plays like a 2 hour soap opera where Meg would soon shoot to fame. Not sure that I understand why it received an R rating.
