Ride with the Devil follows four people who are fighting for truth and justice amidst the turmoil of the American Civil War. Director Ang Lee takes us to a no man's land on the Missouri/Kansas border where a staunch loyalist, an immigrant's son, a freed slave, and a young widow form an unlikely friendship as they learn how to survive in an uncertain time. The story of a handful of men in the setting of the American Civil War. _Ride with the Devil_ is an underrated effort with an impressive production and a commendable result. Ang Lee manages, despite the atypical nature of his work compared to others, to reach the heights of the finest films on the subject. Generally excellent acting, noteworthy Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Jeffrey Wright in their supporting roles.
