I wanted to like this, but from the time the guest turned up I just couldn't understand why they would tolerate and accommodate her. I suppose the terrible attitude was needed to make the action at the end in-character, but prior to that I just couldn't understand them keeping around the absolute worst idea of a teenager - bratty, selfish, ungrateful, entitled and antagonistic. It would be hard enough to put up with if you were their parent, but as the couple had no link to the irritant they had no obligation to tolerate her attitude and should have just turned her away.
And how did she, whilst also pregnant, get out there in the isolated location in the first place?

Regardless, with that stinking attitude she'd be left where she was by any reasonably thinking person I could imagine, who is trying to live in isolation.
So this character spoiled the film, for me.

Absolutely haunting story about unconditional love and the entrapment of keeping dark secrets. _Rose: A Love Story_ is a British horror drama centers on Sam, tasked with the duty of caring for his wife Rose, who struggles with a terrifying disease that makes her thirst for blood and is not allowed to be outside under any circumstances, forcing them into isolation in the woods. But when a mysterious stranger shows up at their home, the fragile protection they have built shatters. I really appreciate this vampirism-as-a-chronic-condition film. Reminds me of _My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It To_ which also came out this year. The pace is slow but the film's extremely evocative and effectively captures what it's trying to convey with the atmospheric tone and setting, stellar cinematography, and great chemistry from both leads. A solid debut from Jennifer Sheridan.

A valiant attempt at doing something different within it’s genre but it takes a long time to make its point.
